Professional Experience

Freelance Writer and Editor—1986 to Present

Write, edit, and proofread articles, essays, short stories, training manuals, curriculum, advertising copy, and corporate communications. Writing specialties include the environment, travel, information technology, social science, history, and the arts. As a monthly columnist for Design & Architecture Magazine, wrote the "Estates for Sale," "Unique Hotels & Destinations," and "Design Scene" columns. I am currently the "Hot Spots" columnist for So Scottsdale magazine as well as the Travel columnist and Homes & Lifestyles columnist for View Magazine. Wrote and co-wrote more than 75 reference guides, instructor manuals, textbooks and curriculum guides.

Event Coordinator—1987 to Present

Coordinate publicity for various organizations and companies. Develope brochures, flyers, newsletters, and mass mailings. Wrote funding grants. Coordinate events with hotels, caterers, travel agencies, speakers. Secure event locations. Oversee all planning and preparation. Manage budgets. Organize off-site activities and hire contractors.

Teacher & Curriculum Developer—1989 to 2004

Research and write training materials and curriculum for high school and college courses. Courses have included history, humanities, writing, computers, software, English, anthropology, and the Internet. Project Manager—ComputerPREP, Inc., Phoenix, AZ 1994 to 1996

Coordinated the development of computer training materials. Managed a staff of 20 editors, desktop publishers, and support personnel. Served as managing editor for textbooks, with final approval of copy prior to press.

Assistant Professor—Colorado Northwestern Community College, CO 1989 to 1994

Taught courses in anthropology, political science, computers, writing, and research. Served as Literacy Coordinator 1990 to 1991 for CNCC. Wrote grants for literacy funding. Developed advertising copy for literacy program and various community-interest programs.

Exchange Program Coordinator—School Partnerships, International 1987 to 1992

Coordinated student exchange programs sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Developed introductory programs for visiting students. Coordinated all aspects of exchange programs between schools, families, and SPI.
